Barcelona expects to hold elections to determine the club’s next president on January 24, but this date may be changed if the situation in Spain’s COVID-19 worsens, however Joan Laporta he thinks it would be very strange if the elections were suspended.
Laporte presented a list of more than 10,000 signatures supporting his candidacy on Monday afternoon, more than double the number received by his closest rival, Victor Font.
“We had a lot of confidence in the work that our campaign team was doing, it would be very strange if the elections were suspended.” Laporte declared.
“I have always been optimistic, I have seen a campaign with a very good atmosphere.
“This result is spectacular, I think the right measures have been taken to protect the elections, there is no objective reason why [they would be delayed]. “
