Fauci says “virtually everyone” could start receiving COVID-19 vaccines in April

NEW YORK – Dr. Anthony Fauci predicts by April that there will be an “open season” for vaccinations in the United States, as increased supply allows most people to receive protective shots against COVID-19.

Fauci, who is a scientific adviser to President Joe Biden, says the vaccination rate will accelerate sharply in the coming months. He credits future deliveries of the two approved vaccines, the potential approval of a third, and moves by the Biden administration to increase the nation’s ability to administer doses.

He says, “by April,” it will be “open season, which is practically everyone and anyone in any category could start getting vaccinated.”

He warned that it would take “several more months” to deliver injections logistically to adult Americans, but predicted that the immunity of the herd could be reached by the end of the summer.
