Fauci rejects Fox Anchor’s claim that “Gate Posts Keep Moving” on Masks

Dr. Anthony Fauci stepped back and forth again with a Fox News anchor on Tuesday, this time pushing back against Sandra Smith’s complaint that “the gate poles keep moving” about using the mask.

During an appearance on Fox News America’s Newsroom On Monday, Fauci – who is now President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser – overturned Bill Hemmer’s attempt to interview President Donald Trump, noting that Hemmer’s colleague Dana Perino had just said she should “put this in place. our backs ”and move forward.

Just a day later, Fauci reappeared on Fox, this time sitting down for a comprehensive interview with Smith and co-anchor John Roberts. For the most part, the interview was quite collegial, as the two anchors focused their questions on the Biden administration’s coronavirus policies and vaccine distribution plans.

However, towards the end of the conversation, it became a little difficult when Smith hit Fauci’s recent remark that double masking makes “common sense” and is most likely more effective in protecting against viral spread than wearing a single mask.

“So, if you have a single-layer physical coating, put another layer, it’s just common sense that it would probably be more effective. That’s why you see people either double-masked or doing a version of an N95, “Fauci said last week.

“Dr. Jaws, it looks like the poles keep moving, “Smith said, noting that California has additional problems as new coronavirus strains emerge.

“We are all trying to do everything we can to keep ourselves safe. We all wear masks and hope most people are. Now we hear we should wear two, “she continued before throwing:” If I go to the grocery store, I wear two, I wear three? Is it safer to wear eight? Where does it stop ?! ”

Meanwhile, Fauci replied that “the discussion is changing, not the objectives”, adding that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not officially recommend anyone to wear double masks.

“What they’re saying is, ‘Do you know what a good start would be?’ If everyone wears at least one mask “, he further explained. “It simply came to our notice then. So the CDC’s recommendations have not changed. What we are trying to do is make people who do not wear masks wear masks ”.
