Faride supports the three causes of abortion in the Criminal Code, not in a special law

The senator of the national district, Faride Raful, declared that he is against the bill that allows the voluntary termination of the pregnancy in three cases being known and approved as a special law.

The robbery approached a group of protesters who gathered in front of the National Congress on Monday to demand the approval of the bill aimed at allowing abortion on three grounds and reaffirmed its support for the legislative initiative.

“I think we must continue to fight to make it a reality. This issue has been treated as a taboo subject and yesterday we had a very beautiful demonstration on the congress esplanade and today also this demonstration of working women fighting for equal rights and recognition of reproductive and sexual rights, “the senator said.

In this regard, he recalled that the draft Criminal Code is still being debated in the Chamber of Deputies and that, when it reaches the Senate, it will be involved in including the three cases within it and not by a special law.

“Right now we are in a situation where the Criminal Code is still being revised by the Chamber of Deputies and alternatives of special laws have been proposed which we do not agree with, because the disadvantage has always been to say that they will legislate through a special law the issue of the three cases, but we maintain any kind of termination of pregnancy in the Criminal Code and we can not allow this, “he said.

The Standing Committee on Justice of the Chamber of Deputies will meet on Monday afternoon to continue the debates on the Criminal Code.

To date, the commission has not yet decided on the decision to decriminalize abortion or whether it includes the three reasons for voluntary termination of pregnancy.
