ATLANTA – Didi Gregorius hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning of the four innings in Philadelphia and had the starting sacrifice in the ninth to help the Phillies discover the winning streak of the four Atlanta Braves with a 7 -6 Sunday evening.
Alec Bohm doubled the Braves closer to Will Smith to start the ninth, advanced to third on a good and scored to make it 7-6 on Gregorius’ fly to the left. Marcell Ozuna’s throw bounced twice before Bohm was initially called safe – even though he didn’t seem to set foot on the set against Travis d’Arnaud’s catch attempt.
The track was revised and supported, causing Truist Park fans to throw debris in the outside field and causing the field crew to go out to pick up trash.
“I was called safely,” Bohm said when asked if he thought he was gone. “This is all that matters.”
Bohm was not surprised that third base coach Dusty Wathan sent him.
“The whole batter he was saying,” we score with a flying ball. I will be in your ear and let you know, ”Bohm said. “The ball went up. I reached for my bag and he said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’ As soon as (Ozuna) caught her, I took off. ”
D’Arnaud was disappointed with the decision made by the video review.
“Nice double, hit me right in the chest,” D’Arnaud said. “I bent down, applied the label, blocked the plate after I caught the ball. Initially, I didn’t know if he was safe or out just because I had to jump to the right to make sure I locked the plate, but after watching the replay, it didn’t look like his foot had touched the bag, from any angle we seen.
“After that, I saw it from several angles and it didn’t look like his foot had touched the plate.”
Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins made a homer for the Phillies, who had lost three of four. Héctor Neris faced the minimum in the ninth to win the second save and has an ERA of 1.86, with five consecutive converted saves and 25 shots, a duration of 19 1/3 innings, starting last August 28th.
Jose Alvarado (2-0) launched the eighth to win. Smith (0-2) lost.
Ronald Acuña Jr., Freddie Freeman and Ozzie Albies managed to lead Bravi. Acuña, in a hot series in his last six games, has won 9 for 13 in the three-game series and scored twice.
Adopting for the second night in a row, Harper took Nate Jones back with a solo shot in the opposite field on the left to make it 6-5. Acuña’s fourth homer, who came in the bottom half of the half to make it 6-all, sailed 428 feet into the center field on relay Sam Coonrod.
Freeman’s fourth homer, who came off the change of starter Matt Moore, cleared the fence in the center to force a 5-all tie in the fifth.
“It was a great game,” Bohm said. “Every time they took out, we would answer. Whenever we sign up, they respond. It’s a good victory. “
The brave went up 3-0 in the first. Acuña reached a single inside, and Albies hit his first homer before d’Arnaud doubled and scored on Dansby Swanson’s single.
Philadelphia scored 3-1 in the second, when JT Realmuto doubled the lead and scored on Jean Segura’s sacrifice.
In the fourth, Hoskins’ second homer went to the left, reducing the lead to 3-2, before Gregorius crushed a curved ball from starter Drew Smyly in the right field for a three-stage homer that gave the Phillies 5-3 in the lead.
Gregorius recognized Bohm and Jean Segura for reaching base before his three-run shot.
“I came big for the homer team in three rounds, but that half didn’t happen without Seggie doing his job and I tried to hit the ball deep enough for Bohm to score,” Gregorius said. “This is the best part of the game right there.”
The brave responded with a run to make it 5-4 at the bottom of the fourth, when Cristian Pache doubled, advanced on a good and scored on the sacrifice of Acuña.
Phillies starter Matt Moore gave up five innings and nine hits and hit three in five innings. Smyly allowed five runs and five hits and hit three in five innings.
