Fans are puzzled by Cyndi Lauper’s strange NYE performance

Cyndi Lauper said goodbye to 2020 in the most appropriate way: giving a shocking show outside of live television.

The 67-year-old pop star performed “True Colors” and “Hope” in “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest’s New Year’s Eve” on ABC on Thursday night.

After being joined by Seacrest, Billy Porter and Lucy Hale for “True Colors”, Lauper’s glamorous team tried to tweak it, causing the singer to scream, “I’m on camera! I am in the room! ”

The chaotic show brought to mind the disastrous New Year’s Eve 2016 show of fellow diva Mariah Carey, during which she could not hear her own song, finally singing and sitting on stage with her mouth closed and one hand on her hip.

“Well, happy New Year. We can’t hear, but I’ll just go through the motions, “she snorted, adding later,” I’m trying to be a good sport here. “

Lauper released “Hope” during the initial coronavirus blockade in March. But even that, apparently, was not enough time to correct the notes. On stage, she jumped as she tried to sing in tune.

Twitter quickly appealed to the less-than-ideal performance, many saying the stylist’s embarrassing moment.

“Cyndi Lauper’s performance was the last punishment for 2020,” he wrote @ Daviesallison1A.

“If you thought that 2020 could not get worse, do not watch this performance Cyndi Lauper #bigyikes“, Posted @Scudpat.

“Cyndi Lauper and Billy Porter just sounded like two 8-year-olds performing an adult ‘show’ with the intention of asking for an overnight party.” said @alysha_share.

“Drunk aunts took over New Year’s Eve in Times Square,” he joked @ RetepM82.
