Despite the discussions focused mainly on the selection no. 3 of the 49ers in this year’s draft will participate in the three-day event with nine selections and a number of holes to complete throughout the list. Most simulated sketches stick to a single round and contain a certain iteration of Trey Lance, Mac Jones or Justin Fields going to the 49ers. This is their biggest story in this project, but a few other key needs will have to be met in this year’s project.

We ran the Pro Football Focus simulator and did a three-round drill to try to meet some of these needs for the 49ers.

The high IQ of football and the physical features of Lance alone make it an interesting prospect for any team. His experience in a crime that required him to do a lot of things that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan would like makes it easy to see why a team would change three first-round picks to get up and take it .

New England receives: no. 43

San Francisco receives: Nr. 46 (Round 2) and 120 (Round 4)

Depending on what the Patriots wanted, the 49ers might be able to make another late choice out of this scenario.

Although Johnson does not necessarily meet an immediate need, he is a versatile defensive prospect who offers a good depth in safety. He could be a factor this year in a position where injuries have been an issue for San Francisco, but he can also be a long-term back-end responder due to his ability to play deep and in the slot. . Johnson had seven interceptions in three college seasons, including two against Justin Fields and Ohio State.

Dallas receives: Pick No. 102 (Round 3) and 172 (Round 5)

San Francisco receives: Choose number 75 (round 3)

If the 49ers need an edge or a corner right now, they should wait until later to move up. However, this value is very good to jump over 27 places.

It is difficult to project a good corner for 49ers, because we do not know exactly what their defensive scheme will look like under the new defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans. However, assuming they remain heavy in the area, Graham should be able to thrive while bringing a toughness that has helped define the 49ers’ defense over the past two seasons. His athleticism doesn’t jump off the screen when he watches it, but it’s a lot around football. He was a three-year incumbent in Oregon before his final year. Graham posted eight interceptions in his first three college seasons and had 10.5 loss attacks to go with 143 approaches.

Joseph played for LSU in 2018, moved to Kentucky and missed the 2019 season, then played great football for the Wildcats in his sophomore year. He had four interceptions in nine games and brings the NFL size to 6-1, 190 pounds. His lack of experience could be worrisome, but the 49ers wouldn’t need him to start right away. Offering a player with Joseph’s size and athleticism a year to grow could bring big dividends for San Francisco along the way.

While out of a small and relatively unknown school, Johnson could make a name for himself with the 49ers and Kyle Shanahan. At 5-11, £ 184 he projects as a slot receiver and could be the answer to the problem posed by Kendrick Bourne’s departure. Johnson played in 40 games for the Jackrabbits and posted 162 receptions for 2,872 yards and 28 touchdowns. He became more active in the SDSU game and in his final year also with 149 rushing yards in eight attempts. This is a good place for the 49ers to catch a receiver after picking a pair of defenders, and Johnson has the ability set to thrive with San Francisco.
