Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday that the company will no longer recommend political and civic groups to its users.

The change comes in the wake of the January 6 US Chapter uprising.

“This is a continuation of the work we have been doing for some time to reduce the temperature and discourage divisive talks,” Zuckerberg said in a call with analysts following the company’s earnings in the fourth quarter.

This comes after the company temporarily decided not to recommend these groups to US users in October before the 2020 US elections.

In addition, Zuckerberg said the company is now considering measures to reduce the amount of political content users see in News News.

“One of the first feedback we hear from our community right now is that people don’t want politics and struggle to take over their experience in our services,” Zuckerberg said.
