Bahrain /
Spanish Fernando Alonso (Alpine) returned to the controls of a car during the second training session of the pre-season test Bahrain Formula 1, and signed a second extraordinary position in the morning session, just behind the Australian Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren), followed by the Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez of Red Bull.
After two years away from “The Great Circus”, the two-time world champion returned to the track in one Formula 1 in the Sakhir circuit, in a session in which all eyes were focused on before, during and after entering the Alpine A521. Thus, he took over from his partner Esteban Ocon, who filmed on Friday, to test himself in a test with the last five private minutes and which they could not see.
The Asturian, who had not competed in F1 since then Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of 2018, he jumped on the asphalt with his new blue electric car and soon stormed the schedule table, which he drove in the very first stage.
Only the Australian Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) managed to take him down from the first position with a time of 1: 32.215, 0.124 better than the Spaniards, although both are still far from those obtained on Friday, which will have to be corrected in the afternoon.
