EA announced the first game from Codemasters since it bought the racing specialist earlier this year. F1 2021 comes on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and Steam on July 16th.
The latest edition of the series, which is EA’s first F1 game since 2003 F1 Career Challenge, includes an extended career mode with two-player options. You will be able to team up with a friend or run against each other online, although EA has not yet confirmed whether F1 2021 will have cross-play support. Another fresh component of the career mode is the start of the real season, which allows you to get into action at any time of the current F1 season, with the driver and constructor ranking in real life.
F1 2021 also introduces a story mode called Brake Point. Codemasters in a press release, the mode has been “for years.” You will start in Formula 2 and try to get to the big time. The braking point “immerses players in the glamorous world of F1, offering a taste of lifestyle, both on and off the track: the rivalries, excitement and devotion needed to compete at the highest level,” according to EA .
You will receive three new circuits free of charge as part of Codemasters’ post-launch roadmap. Several aspects of previous games will return, including My Team (which allows you to lead your own F1 team), split screen with two players, e-sports features and shorter season options. The PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions will offer improved images and faster load times, with free upgrades from the PS4 and Xbox One editions.
EA closed Codemasters’ $ 1.2 billion takeover in February after bidding, but of course F1 2021 it was in development long before then. EA will launch at least one racing game a year in the future, as it now owns the Dirt, Grid and Project Cars franchises in addition to Need for Speed and Burnout.
Fans of the race should do well F1 2021 this year, however. EA with a year to focus on the next battlefield.
