Experts predict that the sequence of the earthquake will continue to affect the southwest

The director of the Seismic Network of Puerto Rico, Víctor Huérfano, assured today that the forecasts of the scientists from the Geological Survey and the professors from Mayagüez College estimate that the seismic sequence from the southwest will continue to be active in the coming months.

As he said in an interview for NotiUno 630, a year after seismic activity began in this area of the island, there is still evidence of movements that took place as close as a few days ago, when it was recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9.

“This classifies it as an important event,” Orfano said.

This activity can be felt throughout Puerto Rico, but, as in the past, especially in the southwest.

“According to experts, the sequence will continue for how long? They make their predictions, first for a week, then for a month and then for the long term,” he concluded.
