Expert weighs Nashville blast, says bombing “not a moment”

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WTVF) – As authorities continue to investigate Friday morning’s explosion in downtown Nashville, experts tell NewsChannel 5 that they strongly believe the bomb blast was not an accident.

There have been so many plans that should have taken place to coordinate such an explosion, and experts say that with such coordination, you usually get someone to take credit sooner rather than later. That was not the case here, because we do not yet have someone to take responsibility for all this damage.

NewsChannel 5 spoke earlier with Alex Little, who is a former chief national security prosecutor in our area. He usually says, in an explosion of this magnitude, the goal is to create as much collateral damage as possible and that includes a massive loss of life.

The fact that I heard a warning in advance leads Little to believe that the reason was much more sophisticated.

“This thing started at 6:30 on Christmas morning. We have witnesses who said that no one was there the night before, so this was something that was planned to happen this morning. Then you have someone who struggled to make a recording, spend time, and risk exploding the bomb to send this warning 30 minutes before it goes off. So this is not an impulse of the moment. It took a lot of planning, “Little said.

Little added, “If you’re going to make an attack and not take credit, the person you’re going to attack knows why you’re doing it.”

He says behind-the-scenes investigators will have to look at all the possible reasons behind this, including how everything relates to AT&T.

Little also mentioned that, as an investigator, he would have taken a closer look at the surveillance video we have, where we can hear the message from RV.

The video was posted from a Twitter and YouTube account that was created today and has no previous posts.

Little says you have to look if this was posted by someone involved in the bombing. NewsChannel 5 will bring more details as they become available, but Little says he keeps up with the latest information.
