Wide availability is probably the most significant development of the COVID pandemic in Louisiana since the state was shut down a few days more than a year ago. Most Louisiana residents were already eligible for a vaccine after the state expanded access to essential jobs that most Louisiana residents hold – positions from restaurant workers, bartenders to construction people, production and college staff.

Vaccines for all people 16 years of age and older will be available starting Monday, March 29th. Pharmacies in the area told WBRZ on Wednesday (March 24th) that they are already making plans for wider availability. Forward WBRZ news here all day to watch for new, delayed information.

By the end of April, more than 1 million people in Louisiana will have fully completed their vaccines. It takes 14 days after the second dose of the two-injection regimen or 14 days after the single dose vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated.

The U.S. COVID outlook is improving, federal health experts said Wednesday as more Americans qualify and have been vaccinated for coronavirus. Click HERE to read more.
