ETECSA has launched new internet offers for independent programmers that include prices of up to 24,125 pesos per month, depending on the speed of the connection, as announced by the Cuban telecommunications monopoly.
The offers consist of two types of services, one for Nauta Hogar of 240 or 480 hours, and another for the asymmetric digital subscription line of connection type (ADSL) with fixed tariff, which will be reserved exclusively for licensed persons as “computer equipment programmers “.
Etecsa specified that the 240 hours from Nauta Hogar will cost 2000 pesos per month, while the 480 hours will cost 3500. The initial qualification service will cost 250 pesos, and the additional hours in case of exceeding the plan will cost 12.50 pesos.
Payment for the service will be made at the end of the month by an invoice that can be paid with “international top-ups, top-up coupons or direct top-ups in commercial units”, or by “Transfermóvil, telecommunications agents, banks, post office or commercial units of ETECSA” .
For the ADSL connection, the offer includes “the installation and service of contracted data through the use of digital links that permanently interconnect their computer network with other networks, in accordance with the defined quality specifications,” reported ETECSA.
The state-owned company offers different speeds depending on “what you need for your business with a shear and the option to activate international mail”. The speed and price range oscillate between 12/128 Kbps for 1250 pesos and 6144/1025 Kbps with a price of 24 125 pesos.
To which is added an invariable price for the initial installation required with a value of 2,500 pesos; and a company specification that clarifies that the sale of the modem will depend on the “model”, while “higher speeds, between 8 and 12 Mbps, will depend on the technical facilities”.
To opt for these services, customers must submit an electronic application by sending their application to the e-mail address: [email protected]
While the documentation required for the application is as follows:
“1 Authorization card for self-employment with the authorized activity of” Computer Equipment Developer “.
2 Application signed with the connectivity offer you want to contract.
3 Photocopy of identity card.
4 If the interested party is not the owner of the telephone line on which the service will be installed, he must send a written authorization from its owner. “
In 2017, Cuban authorities paralyze licensing of “computer equipment programmers”, along with other private activities.
However, in 2021, Cuba launched private works with some restrictions, but Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security Marta Elena Feito Cabrera reported that the country it would not eliminate the self-employed activities that have already been carried out today, including those whose licenses had been paralyzed.
