Camar Wheaton, ESPN 300, was hired in Alabama on Wednesday, joining the Crimson Tide’s No. 1 recruiting class.
Wheaton is No. 41 overall, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound back from Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas. He chose Alabama instead of Oklahoma and grants Crimson Tide 20 ESPN 300 commitments.
He is the first back-running employee in this class for Alabama, but he is the fifth ESPN 300 to run the program in the last three classes.
His commitment gives Nick Saban and his staff seven commitments in the top 50 and 12 in the top 100. Tide already held the top class before that commitment, but now continues to lead the state of Ohio.
Buckeyes has two five-star commitments and 17 ESPN 300 prospects. With this commitment, Alabama has three five-star prospects, 20 ESPN 300 commitments and 25 total class commitments.
The two programs will continue to play for the No. 1 signing position in February, but this addition will make it difficult for Ohio State to capture Alabama.
