MOBILE, Alabama. – The stands at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the South Alabama campus were filled with scouts and NFL staff on Tuesday as Senior Bowl practice week began.
In general, players in several positions, such as the defender, start slowly on the first day, as they develop their time in the new environment. But qualifying position prospects began on Tuesday, especially the wide receivers.
I wrote about Dwayne Eskridge in western Michigan in my Senior Bowl preview, as a player who could become a “riser” Senior Bowl like Terry McLaurin two years ago and did not disappoint in his first practice.
On the tape, Eskridge seems to be moving at a different speed than anyone else in the Mid-American Conference. And it was more the same against better competition here. Cornerbacks tried to press him and hold him on the line of scrimmage, while Eskridge used his suddenness and time.
