Both sides shared blog posts announcing the acquisition moments after the deal was revealed by Bloomberg through a tweet. In the Epic Games post, the company notes that the cross-platform focus of the game is going nowhere, as “Epic will continue to invest in turning the game into a great platform experience for players.”

When purchasing game studios, they tend to be the teams behind major multiplayer successes, such as All the boys itself and its acquisition in 2019 Missile League Psyonix developer.

At Tonic Games Group, we often say that “everyone deserves a game that seems to have been made for them,” reads a statement from Tonic Games Group co-founder and CEO Dave Bailey. found a house that was made for us. In its own blog post, the Mediatonic team notes that the move will help the studio improve All the boys, expand the game’s coverage and better support its sizeable community. Media suggestions for cross-play support could be one of the areas where Epic Games can help it expand, along with other features from Fortnite and Missile League who could come to All the boys including account systems, cross-games and team vs. team modes.

“We are proud of Mediatonic’s creative culture and this is something that Epic really values,” the Mediatonic team concludes. “We focused on creating games that empower our players, create joy and bring people together for fun, and we couldn’t be more excited about future opportunities.”
