NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Starting Saturday, all New Yorkers over the age of 50 are allowed to go to any COVID vaccination site run by a city for an entrance meeting.
At first, walk-in meetings were only available to New Yorkers over the age of 75.
The mayor’s office says that this policy also applies to pop-up sites managed by the city.
COVID VACCINE
“Our priority for the next few months is clear: we need to vaccinate as many New Yorkers as possible,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement. “By making it easier to vaccinate New Yorkers over the age of 50, we are about to completely vaccinate 5 million New Yorkers by June.”

Earlier this week, the challenge of finding a meeting in the city seemed eased – thousands of appointments were not immediately claimed.
The mayor said more pop-up sites and a robust supply of vaccine could be the reasons for that. He said it was good for the city.
Others feared that meetings might begin to be lost. If left unused, vaccine stocks may increase.
Mayor Blasio said 99% of New Yorkers now live less than a mile from the vaccination site.
