Emergency management requires caution when visiting beaches on long weekends

The Commissioner for Emergency Management and Disaster Management (NMEAD), Nino Correa Filomeno, urged citizens to be careful if they decide to visit the beaches this long weekend.

“The San Juan National Meteorological Service has reported a high risk of sea currents along the northern coast of Puerto Rico and the island municipality of Culebra. This danger is expected to be in place throughout the weekend. Citizens should be aware that these currents can take them by surprise and endanger their lives, as well as those of our rescuers, firefighters, police and paramedics.I urge you to be cautious and judicious when visiting the beaches, especially if they are accompanied by elderly minors, “he said.
