Artist and former political prisoner Elizam Escobar will be covered on Thursday in Casa Contrafuertes, San Sebastián Street in Old San Juan, between 16:00 and 19:00
Escobar passed away on January 15, at the age of 71, after battling cancer for several years.
As stated in a press release, “according to a permit granted to celebrate the awakening, it is necessary to comply with all protocols for compliance with strict measures to prevent COVID-19”.
Recognitions received by Escobar include an honorary master’s degree from the School of Fine Arts, dedication to La Campechada in 2016, the award from the International Association of Art Critics in 2013 for best retrospective exhibition and the Pen Club award in 1999 for the best anthology of essays – a book written and published in prison.
