Elias Serulle and MP Lourdes Aybar took the oath in the People’s Force

Former congressman and political leader Elías Serulle was sworn in as a new member of the People’s Force on Tuesday afternoon, weeks before he announced his departure from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).

Serulle was sworn in by the president of that political organization, Leonel Fernández, along with his entire political team.

During the same act, the current deputy and Serulle’s wife, Lourdes Aybar, also joined the People’s Force.

The former ambassador was a member of the former official party for 27 years and was already on the central committee of that organization, but resigned because he “understands” that the party founded by Professor Juan Bosch “lost its end” and that the reasons why he came out of power and that he feels that the connection with the organization’s base has been lost.

Aybar resigned from the PLD just a day after she became her husband, citing exactly the same reasons. Along with him, there are six deputies who joined the People’s Force after the July elections.

The activity took place in a hotel in the capital this afternoon.
