A primary school in West Sussex, England, has reprimanded parents for picking up their children in miniskirts, low-cut tops and other clothes that “look like underwear.” Sun..
A letter sent to families by Seymour Elementary School, entitled “Playground Etiquette,” called for parents to dress appropriately when leaving or picking up their children. “Wearing clothes that are too thin or for other times of the day is not a good example,” the letter said.
The reaction among parents was mixed, according to the tabloid. “I saw moms in gowns and slippers and one wearing a sheer mini skirt and a faded top on a cold spring day – you could see literally everything.” Sun. quoted one saying. However, another called the letter “above” and was offended by its tone.
In response, the school issued a statement to a local news outlet, The Crawley Observer, who published a story stating that the letter generated “national titles”. “Although well-intentioned as a guideline,” the statement said, “the school acknowledges that the wording may have been less prescriptive.”
