Egypt reopens the tomb of Ramses I in the Valley of the Kings after restoring it

Cairo, Egypt.

Egyptian authorities reopened the tomb of Pharaoh Ramses I, located in tourist Valley of the Kings, after the restoration work has been completed.

Recovery work on this funeral space excavated in the rock consisted of removing the excrement of birds and bats from the walls, as well as restoration of murals and cleaning soot on them.

Antiquity

The opening was led by the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Jaled al Anani, and the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mustafa Waziri, during a visit to Luxor, in the vicinity of which is the magnificent necropolis of The King’s Valley.

The tomb in Ramses I, Discovered in 1817, it is 29 meters long and consists of a corridor leading to a funeral room with well-preserved murals and a granite sarcophagus.

Ramses I reigned between 1292 and 1290 BC. and is the founder of the nineteenth dynasty.
