BALTIMORE – Eduardo Rodriguez came back triumphant after the coronavirus-induced myocarditis that knocked him out of the 2020 season, and the Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-3 on Thursday, losing in the opening game of the home campaign.
Dominican Rafael Devers and Puerto Rican Kiké Hernández each managed to run at home for the Red Sox, who won four consecutive games, something they did not achieve since August 14-18, 2019.
Boston scored 33 combined races in four wins. He scored just five to be swept away by the sun during a three-game series at Fenway Park.
One day after his 28th birthday, Rodriguez first appeared in the majority on September 29, 2019, when he faced the Orioles themselves at Fenway Park.
The Venezuelan started the previous season on the injury list, after feeling numb during the pre-season.
Rodriguez (1-0) allowed three rounds in five innings. He allowed four shots, including two-round homers by Ryan Mountcastle in the first half and Pedro Severino in the fourth.
He hit seven opponents and walked on one. His fast balloon even reached 94.7 mph.
The loss went to Matt Harvey (0-1).
