Early reports indicate that vaccine schedules are not going well again

Ed. Note: They will be another chance on Saturday for those with priority postcodes (see below) due to yesterday’s malfunction.

Some early reports this morning: “Captcha is broken today.”

“DC needs to do something different with this vaccination portal. Who is held accountable for this continual failure ?! ”

“Captcha does not work on the DC vaccination site. He keeps telling me it’s wrong when it’s not. It’s happened three times now. ”

“The advantages of knowing http: errors went through the last page of the DC Covid Vaccine system and I received a 503 error (the system is overloaded or downloaded). Cool cool cool cool. ”

“I switched to captcha and got this” (above)

From DC Health yesterday:

“We apologize for the problems related to the vaccination portal this morning. The district’s COVID-19 vaccination naming portal did not work as expected due to a failure of the technical review that led to eligible residents with a qualified medical condition not being able to register. As the IT team worked to stabilize the website due to heavy traffic, there were delays in finding and resolving the issue with the eligibility criteria.

We know how stressful this moment is and we regret that this unfortunate situation took place on a day when many of our residents with chronic illnesses were newly eligible for vaccination appointments. The failure of the technical review has now been resolved, and with tens of thousands of residents newly eligible for the vaccine this week, we are currently working with Microsoft in anticipation of extremely heavy traffic during future programming launches.

The portal and call center will open as scheduled for all eligible people on Friday, February 26, at 9:00. 4,350 meetings will be available. We are also adding a registration session on Saturday, February 27 at 9:00 am for eligible residents with qualified medical conditions in priority postcodes. 3,500 meetings will be available. Appointments can be scheduled by visiting vaccinate.dc.gov or by calling 1-855-363-0333.

We know that the vaccine we currently have is not enough to meet the demand of our residents and workers. Therefore, we will continue to advocate for DC to receive more vaccine so that any resident who wants a vaccine can receive one. Our goal is to facilitate a fair and efficient distribution of the vaccine. ”
