Three reasons why you should watch the Duke’s Mayo Bowl
– It will be pure power over cunning speed. The Wisconsin offense was hurt, inept and inconsistent after an amazing start, but the defense is No. 1 in the nation overall, No. 1 in the third down, and the team is No. 1 in possession.
Wake Forest has a fun, creative attack, who doesn’t care about eating to control the clock, moves fast and doesn’t get much out of line.
– The two teams know how to play bowl games well. Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson is 3-1 in the bowl with the program, losing only last year in a good fight against Michigan in Pinstripe.
Wisconsin lost to Justin Herbert and Oregon in a Rose Bowl thriller last season, but head coach Paul Chryst is 4-1 with the Badgers in the bowls.
– The defenders will be the story. Wisconsin does not have an elite running back, but Graham Mertz is the best-ranked defender in program history. He works through the heavy spots of a tough season – the receiving body has been leveled by injuries – but he is a talent. Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman is a fun veteran who threw ten touchdown passes and one interception.
