Drew Smowsly, Atlanta Braves, scratched from the start, placed on IL

The Atlanta Braves placed Drew Smyly on the left on the 10-day injured list with left forearm inflammation ahead of Friday’s scheduled start against the Chicago Cubs.

Manager Brian Snitker told reporters that the hope is that Smyly will miss a single start.

The Braves reminded right-back Kyle Wright of their alternate training ground to start Friday’s game. Wright will make his debut in 2021 after going 2-4 with an ERA of 5.21 last season.

Smyly won last time in Sunday’s 7-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, a game that was decided by a review of the home board of an Alec Bohm slide. The 31-year-old is 0-0, with an ERA of 5.73 in two starts this season.

Infielder Johan Camargo was also called by Atlanta.

Jesse Rogers of ESPN contributed to this report.
