EBay online marketplace Inc.
said he was working to prevent the resale of six books by Dr. Seuss, which were drawn earlier this week by the company working on the author’s work late because they contain offensive images.
“EBay is currently sweeping our market to remove these items,” a company spokesman said in an email.
Hundreds of records for the six books could be found on the platform starting Thursday morning, although the number appeared to be smaller than it was on Wednesday night. An eBay spokesman said it would take some time to review sellers’ lists and that the company would monitor recently published lists.
Dr. Seuss Enterprises LP, which oversees Dr. Seuss’s publishing interests and ancillary areas, said Tuesday that it has decided that six of the famous author’s books – “And to think I’ve seen him on Mulberry Street”; “If I ran to the zoo”; “McElligot’s Basin”; “Beyond the zebra!”; “Super mixed eggs!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer” would no longer be published because it “describes people in ways that are hurt and wrong.”
