Dr. Karen Tábora dies of coronavirus after being transferred to Tegucigalpa

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- Hours after she was transferred from Gracias, Lempira, western Honduras, to Tegucigalpa, the doctor died on Friday. Karen Tábora to the causes of the deadly coronavirus.

The Honduran air force transferred – in critical condition – the medical professional in a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan plane to the capital.

Tábora came with oxygen due to its low saturation. The doctor was infected with covid-19 a few days ago, but her health was deteriorating, so she decided to bring her to Tegucigalpa, where she will be admitted to Intensive care unit (ICU), but did not hold and died.

According to data collected by HERALDULIn just five days since February, six doctors have lost their battle with the disease that has affected the world since its appearance in Wuhan, China.

So far, in 2021 alone, 17 medical professionals have died after becoming infected with the virus while fighting in hospitals across the country to ensure the recovery of their patients.

The covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on medical personnel in Honduras, who are urging the government and the multisectoral masses to impose stricter measures to reduce the virus.
