The 62-year-old made the news public through his Instagram account, sharing a photo of him recovering in bed with his wife Susan Sailer Pinsky sitting in front of him.

Pinsky had previously been criticized for his comments earlier this year on COVID-19 and the pandemic as a whole; he also matched the virus with a flu strain.

The doctor also stated that he believed in the advice of Dr. Anthony Fauci and mentioned that all his opinions are based on the recommendations of the White House Coronavirus Task Force members.
“Every time I took a stand, I always said, ‘Make sure you listen to Dr. Fauci,’ because he’s the person we need to look at. I was, you know, he was my guiding star in the epidemic. AIDS and should be your northern star now, he added.
