Donald Trump Jr. posted Thursday that federal prosecutors dismissed allegations of DWI and reckless driving against rock icon Bruce Springsteen because of “liberal privilege.”
Trump Jr., 43, gave his opinion on Wednesday’s dismissal to his 6.7 million followers, citing a published article about the result.
“I would say it’s #PrivilegiuAlbă, but we all know it’s really #PrivilegiuLiberal,” read the post, which had been retweeted more than 3,200 times by Thursday afternoon.
While prosecutors dropped the two charges, Springsteen, 71, pleaded guilty to a single charge of drinking in an enclosed area, which resulted in his November 14 arrest at the Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook.
Prosecutors noted that the Boss’s blood alcohol content was only 0.02 at the time or well below the state’s legal limit while driving 0.08.
“I had two small photos of tequila,” Springsteen said during the virtual audition.
U.S. Assistant Prosecutor Adam Baker said Springsteen refused to take a preliminary breathalyzer in the park, but was not required by law to do so.
“He underwent the required breathing test when he was at the guard station,” Baker told a judge.
