Domingo Germán’s return puts Yankees teammates in a difficult position – The Athletic

In baseball, there is usually a culture of keeping the head down and the mouth closed. Players prefer to keep their interpersonal dramas within the confines of the club whenever possible. So it was a rare exception when Yankees rescuer Zack Britton answered a question about his teammate Domingo Germán with anything but a simple diversion.

“Sometimes you don’t get to control who your teammates are,” Britton said. “This is the situation.”

Britton is an MLBPA representative for the team and one of the few remaining pitchers on the 2019 Yankees staff.

Germán returns this spring, after almost 18 months at MLB, after a 81-game suspension under the league’s domestic violence policy. He served 18 games at the end of the 2019 season, then missed the entire shortened 2020 season, while serving 63 remaining …
