In a Facebook post first reported by The Associated Press, Yaroslav Ashikhmin wrote that the results of tests provided by Navalny’s family showed serious problems with the Russian political figure, including rising potassium levels.

“A patient with this level of potassium should be observed in intensive care, because the fatal arrhythmia can develop at any time. Death by cardiac arrest. The publication is coordinated with Alexey Navalny’s relatives,” the post reads.

“Our patient could die at any time,” he continued.

Navalny has been in prison since returning to Russia earlier this year and went on a hunger strike a few weeks ago over complaints about access to medical care at the unit. He and his lawyers say he has zero or rare access to a prison doctor because he has sought treatment for a herniated disc.
