Do you have an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine? Here’s what to expect once you’ve got your photo

SAN ANTONIO – Schedules for COVID-19 vaccines available in the San Antonio area are being completed, which means many will receive their first dose soon. But what can you expect after getting a COVID-19 vaccine? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides some guidance to patients before heading to a site of administration.

After taking a vaccine, you may experience flu-like side effects that may affect your ability to perform some daily activities, says the CDC.

According to the CDC, the most common side effects after receiving the vaccine include pain and swelling in the arm where you hit and fever, chills, headache and fatigue in the rest of the body.

The CDC instructs patients to call their doctor if they experience redness or increased sensitivity at the injection site or if the common side effects do not go away after a few days.

Patients should remember that they must receive a second dose of vaccine to get the full effect, says the CDC.
