Mexico City

A diver plunged into the deep waters off the coast of Croatia and managed to capture stunning images a crashed plane from WWIISlovak Martin Strmiska traveled to the island of Vis in the hope of finding the famous B-17 bomber, nicknamed ‘The Flying Fortress’

Though it wasn’t an easy adventure, The 40-year-old made itThe B-17 is an American heavy bomber used during WWIIThe aircraft was designed by the Boeing Aircraft Company in response to a 1934 Army Air Corps specification I asked for a bomber with four engines, at a time when two engines were the norm.

The plane made its last flight in November 1944 on the way to Vienna, before taking too much damage and making an emergency landing in the Adriatic, approx 50 kilometers from the Croatian coastThe crew evacuated in inflatable rafts.

The remains of the B-17 lie on the seabed of the Adriatic one of the best-preserved aircraft wrecks from the Second World War Due to its depth of more than 60 meters, something that undoubtedly makes it difficult for divers to reach.

Martin Strmiska’s images show an airplane whose time fell into water he charges you a bill, because although the point is shattered, the fairing is visible when the windshield is completely smashed

So the wheels of the plane have started to sink it is not known exactly how long the remains will remain before disintegratingTheir engines and wings are covered with algae and dead crustaceans.
