Disney + plans to launch international adult Star channel for subscribers starting next week

Disney + is set to expand its streaming service offering next week with the launch of its Star brand for adults to existing subscribers in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Disney plus original original

Conformable CNET, the Star brand will include content from Disney Television Studios, FX, 20th Century Studios and 20th Television, which is more suitable for adults, as opposed to content for all ages, which is currently available on Disney +.

It also adds that Disney will add parental controls to Star content to prevent children from gaining unapproved access.

In addition to a long list of family movies and shows, Star will present original content that is currently only available on Hulu and ABC in the US, including “Victor”, the teen drama “Love”, the detective show “Big Sky”, the animated series “Solar Opposites” and Marvel show “Helstrom”.

Movies like “Can You Ever Forgive Me,” Danny Boyle’s “Beach,” “Gone in 60 Seconds,” and “Taken” will star in March, and each season of The Golden Girls comes to Disney + this summer . Disney is also set to bring more Marvel movies to European subscribers within a year.

February 23 is the date when the app will be added to Disney + for existing subscribers in the above regions. European countries that will receive Star content include the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.

However, the Star brand and additional content come at a cost, as Disney + receives a price increase in these regions. In the UK, the monthly subscription rate will increase from GBP 5.99 to GBP 7.99 or from GBP 59.99 to GBP 79.90 per year, with an equivalent increase in the EU in euros. However, current subscribers will enjoy a pay freeze until August 23.

The increased cost is in line with a $ 1 price increase for US subscribers, which will take effect on March 26.
