Thomas Mahler made headlines this week. Game director for Or the blind forest and Or the will of the strands offered some strong criticism against “snake oil sellers” on Wednesday through ResetEra, specifically targeting Peter Molyneux, No Man’s Sky and 2077. Cyberpunk.
As you can imagine, this led to a rather heated debate. Given that Will of the Wisps suffered mainly from performance issues at launch, he was accused of hypocrisy in several parts and criticized for a “reductive” point of view.
Since then, however, Mahler has apologized. Issuance of a statement by Twitter yesterday, he gave back his previous comments and admitted that he “cheated”:
My intention was certainly not to hurt anyone, but to provide a starter for discussions on current issues facing the industry. We all share a common love for this art form and we should always remain respectful of each other. And I wasn’t yesterday.
