PITTSBURGH – The score at the end of the third quarter for the Pittsburgh Steelers will go down in the statistics sheet as a 39-meter touchdown, but the ball from Ben Roethlisberger to Diontae Johnson went about 50 meters into the air to Shoot within two scores of Indianapolis Fangs.
It was a drastic deviation from the short and incomplete passes that escaped in the first half of Sunday afternoon’s game against the Colts.
For the better part of the game, Roethlisberger looked like the defender who threw only 19 meters in the first half in Monday’s loss to Bengali. But going 24-7 with just over three minutes left in the third quarter, Roethlisberger threw the deepest throw of the game and hit Johnson in the end zone in the first game of their new drive.
On the verge of being blown up in the final season of action at home in the regular season, the Steelers needed a touchdown – especially after the previous race ended with a fourth pass down to the goal line. Despite a penalty with the Colts putting the ball on the 1 yard line, the Steelers failed to hit it.
