Did you miss the “Snow” month? Here’s when and where to see him again this weekend – NBC Chicago

Did you miss the “snowy moon” last night? There are two more chances to see.

The second full moon of the year, called the “snow month”, will be visible in the Chicago area this weekend.

Here’s when and where to see it.

When can I see the “Snow” month?

Although the maximum illumination of the moon was on Saturday at 2:17 in the morning, the moon can be seen every night until Sunday, according to the meteorologist NBC 5.

Where should I look for the moon?

The “snowy moon” will probably be visible in the night sky when looking east. According to the latest forecast models, the sky should be mostly clear, with a slight chance of rain on Saturday night until early Sunday morning.

Why do we call it the “Snow Moon”?

The “Snow Moon” earned its name from the Farmer’s Almanac, which says that heavy snow usually appears in February. In the US, February was historically the snowiest month, according to meteorologists.

Other full months of February have been aptly named Groundhog, falling in early February, along with bald eagle moon and black bear moon.

The full moon was also called the “hungry moon” by the Cherokee tribe because food was scarce in February due to excessive snow, NBC 5 Storm Team said.

Although most of February brought heavy snow, the sun and warming temperatures are expected to arrive in the Chicago area this weekend.

According to NBC 5 meteorologists, temperatures could warm to 50 years on Saturday, bringing mostly sunny skies and “spring” conditions to the region.

Areas north of Chicago are likely to see highs in the upper 40s, while areas in the south can expect highs in the low 50s.

On Sunday, partly sunny skies continue across the region, with lows in the 1950s low, according to the latest weather reports.
