This weekend, February 27, the Pokémon series celebrates 25 years since the release of the original Game Boy titles.
Rumors have already surfaced and now the official Pokémon Twitter account seems to be joining the fun. Currently, it does a countdown with different generations of pocket monsters. With four days left, the following tweet was distributed, saying “Come on, Sinnoh”.
Despite the fact that the same account referred to other games and generations of Pokémon in the daily countdown, this particular tweet did some quite excited fans.
The Sinnoh region was first introduced in the fourth generation Pokémon Diamond & Pearl for the Nintendo DS.
If you forgot, last month, Spanish Centro Pokémon fans would have confirmed that the Switch remakes of the DS Pokémon Diamond & Pearl titles were in development and would be revealed around Pokémon Day, on February 27th.
“Pokémon Center can confirm that, according to sources close to the company, the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl remakes, originally released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS, are under development for the Nintendo Switch.”
A much older rumor dating back to 2019 suggests that possible remakes of Diamond and Pearl would have “let’s catch” (the catch mechanic first introduced in Pokémon: Let’s go Games). Centro Pokémon said new versions would not be to be so, but rather closer in style to the original 2006 releases.
Since its original report, Centro Pokémon has been just as confident something “Big” is on the way – with his Twitter account last week he sent a message that fans “will not have to wait until the day of Pokémon on February 27 for the big news” (translation by Google). Attached to this is a clip of the legends from Diamond, Pearl and Platinum:
If that’s not enough, it looks like Poké Ball Plus (first released alongside Let’s Go games) will receive a timely reissue. Last year I saw reissues of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild champions that eventually led to the announcement Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Keep in mind that we are only a few days away from the 25th anniversary of Pokémon, so everything will be revealed soon. What do you think of this? Leave a comment below.
