The defender’s move in this off-season will be fascinating.
Do fangs bring Philip Rivers back or do they move on? How does the new Jets head coach feel about Sam Darnold? 49ers have an upgrade in mind for Jimmy Garoppolo? What about Chicago? New England? Washington?
The questions go on and on. Several teams that need defenders will look at the project to find the answers, this being one of the reasons why many expect four defenders to be selected in the top 10, which happened only once – in 2018.
In addition to the defender-worthy talent at the top of the draft, several in the entire league have expressed a lack of optimism about the 2022 draft class (based on early exploration) as another contributing factor to the motivation the fact that the teams will be more aggressive when drafting the defenders in April.
What we do know is that there is more demand than supply, which makes this two-round sketch an exercise in defensive musical chairs.
