The City of Detroit has extended eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine to include anyone living or working in the city and must report for work.
Previously, only certain categories of workers related to a job were eligible, such as teachers, postal workers, food handlers and manufacturing employees. Now, eligibility has been extended to all employees on the spot, provided they live or work in the city, such as bank branch staff and other officer workers.
Mayor Mike Duggan said any large employer who can line up at least 100 employees in advance can ask the Detroit Department of Health to perform on-site vaccinations, instead of having to travel to TCF. Employers able to gather large groups of more than 100 employees in one day can call the Detroit Means Business Call Center at (844) 333-8249 to arrange a visit to the Department of Health.
All other currently eligible on-site workers should schedule their appointment by calling the city’s central vaccine scheduling number at 313-230-0505.

Eligibility is also extended to include any Detroit resident 16 years of age or older who has an intellectual or developmental disability or a basic medical condition, highlighted in previous expansions. The extension also includes the carers and / or guardians of these persons.

Programming details
Vaccinations will be administered by appointment only. Workers and residents will not be vaccinated without a prior appointment. People should call 313-230-0505 to schedule.
For greater efficiency and comfort, the city recommends that, where possible, eligible members of the same family or neighbors schedule together and arrive in the same vehicle. Essential workers in group B will be required to provide the name of the employer and the most recent payment quota in order to verify their eligibility.
The second vaccination required
When scheduling their appointment, people who receive Pfizer or Moderna will be provided TWO scheduling dates, one for the first dose and one for the second dose required. Call center staff will contact each person scheduled prior to the second meeting to remind them. Individuals will also be given specific instructions on when and where to arrive at the TCF Center, where they will be asked to complete a basic consent form.

After receiving the vaccination, people will be asked to stay for about 15 minutes to make sure that there are no side effects. The medical staff will be available to help anyone who may experience any side effects. Appointments must take approximately one hour after the person arrives for their appointment.
$ 2 rides available
The city continues to schedule vaccination schedules at the TCF Center and offers rides to the TCF for just $ 2 for destroyers in need of transportation. Walks must be scheduled at least 24 hours before scheduling. If a wheelchair accessible vehicle is required, it will be provided. Eligible destroyers can book an appointment by calling 313-230-0505.
