Bungie has officially revealed season 13 of Destiny 2 today and add new shots, armor sets and a match activity called Battlegrounds. The season of the chosen ones review and where Destiny 2 he began by bringing the queen of Kabbalah Caiatl as his chief villain.
This is the first time the players have actually seen Caiatl, the daughter of Calus, the former emperor of Kabbalah, and Destiny 2the original raid boss, rather than read about it in lore deposits off the screen. The season of the chosen ones begins with the new empress suggesting an alliance with the Vanguard to fight the growing threat of the mysterious black pyramids and the god Hive Xivu Arath. Apparently, the negotiations fall apart, however, forcing Zavala and co. in another confrontation with Destiny’Goombas breed raised.

In terms of content, season 13 adds the following:
- The Devil’s Lair and Fallen SABER Greve din Destiny 1
- A new strike called Proving Grounds that takes place in the last city and is unlocked later in the season.
- A set of seasonal armor called the Governor
- An exotic bow called Ticuu’s Divination
- An activity performed by three players, called Battlegrounds
- The return of the Guardian Games event
- A new area of organization that seems to be a hub for activities called HELM
This adds to some of the things Bungie has previously revealed prey refreshed on the moon and in the Dream City, new ritual weapons from each of the three main sellers of the Tower and his return umbrella engrams and prismatic recaster. Osiris prey samples is also revised. If this means “over 25 exotic, legendary and ritual weapons” promised by Bungie in season 13, it will feel like enough remains to be seen.
Destiny 2 it feels a little squeezed at this point, as its sunset mechanic causes older gear to overtake faster than new prey can be added. It doesn’t help that a lot of season 13, at least initially, seems to be built on old content from the previous game and previous seasons. Combine the questions around it with the news that the favorite weapons of some of the players I will be nered and I have a lot of skepticism about the direction of the game next season.
Hopefully it proves me wrong. The season of the chosen ones will air next week on February 9 and run until May 11.

Update – 11:05 AM ET, 2/2/21: Bungie has now released the full set calendar and for next season. Battlegrounds looks set to be a rotating event with different objectives and bosses, while the new Proving Grounds strike will not be added until the end of March. And, of course, it all ends with a new iteration of last year’s Guardian Games at the end of April. Hopefully this time it is less tiring and the rewards are betterr.
