One of Robert Saleh’s former defensive stars pleads for Deshaun Watson to find his way to the Jets.
“If I were Deshaun, I would get out of there as soon as possible. I would head to New York. “The Jets,” said Richard Sherman, a 49ers colleague, on “The Cris Collinsworth Podcast,” hosted by Sherman.
“It simply came to our notice then. Decent offensive line. They should find some threats, they should find some offensive weapons, but I think there would be a lot more people happy to be there. I think this year’s free agency market will be oversaturated because of the salary cap, but I would do that. I would have left there for the first thing I smoke ”.
Watson, 25, won his third consecutive Pro Bowl title in 2020 after throwing 4,823 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the NFL’s best, along with 444 meters in a hurry and three scores in a hurry. He played in all but one game in the last three seasons, despite being fired 155 times during that time.
And yet, the Texans took a huge step back and went 4-12 this season. After a wrong transaction, out of last season, which sent DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals, Bill O’Brien was fired as coach and general manager after a 0-4 start.
Watson’s frustration “was at 2, then I took it at 10,” he wrote on Twitter last week, almost verbatim confirming an ESPN report, which was his levels of anger between the Hopkins trade and now. He wanted contributions to the Texans’ search for a general manager and head coach.
But the team dragged its feet in an interview with the chiefs’ offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy, about whom Watson heard good things from Patrick Mahomes. Then, the team hired Nick Caserio of the Patriots as general manager instead of the finalists recommended by Korn Ferry, Omar Khan of the Steelers and Louis Riddick of ESPN, a move that had Jack Easterby’s fingerprints much maligned everywhere.
– I say [Watson is] without answering any calls or texts – I wouldn’t answer either, “Sherman said. “She is OK. He took a beating for you and played efficiently. ”
Watson gave the Jets fans some hope, liking an Instagram post with The Post’s “Watever It Takes” back page, which advocates for the Jets to follow the quarterback.
Sherman has been raging with Saleh since the Jets hired him and seems to believe that a Saleh-Watson marriage would lead the Jets back into contention.
“Wonderful!” Sherman previously told MMHB in Saleh. “The whole culture will return!”
