Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson joined Twitter shortly after his team agreed to sign with Nick Caserio as the team’s next general manager.
Caserio, currently the director of Patriots personnel, comes from New England, just like the previous Houston regime. Former coach and general manager Bill O’Brien, former Patriots offensive coordinator, led the Texans with the help of Jack Easterby, former Patriots coach. Houston fired O’Brien in October, but kept Easterby.
So maybe Watson isn’t happy to see the organization go in a similar direction to Caserio, another branch of Bill Belichick’s coach and general manager.
Here is what Watson wrote on Twitter: “some things never change…”
O’Brien infamously traded DeAndre Hopkins, Watson’s best passenger, to the Arizona Cardinals during the off-season 2020. The move was one of many – including two first-round options traded for left-handed striker Laremy Tunsil – which led to O’Brien’s cancellation to Houston.
Caserio will be tasked with hiring a head coach for Houston. Excellent options are not lacking, including Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
