Houston Texan quarterback Deshaun Watson has been charged with sexual or civil assault by more women, according to lawsuits filed this week in Harris County. In the past two weeks, 16 women – all service workers in the health and healthcare industry – have said they were assaulted by Watson after he hired them for a massage during separate incidents in 2020 and 2021. A lawyer for Watson called the seven trials. filed “no merit” last week and told CBS News on Tuesday that “any allegation that Deshaun forced a woman to have sex is completely false.”
Two of the 16 women are suing Watson for sexual assault. In a lawsuit, a woman claims that Watson, 25, forced her to have oral sex with him during a massage in December 2020. The other sexual assault lawsuit alleges that Watson exposed himself and asked a woman to massage his genital area during a massage in August 2020. Watson allegedly forced the woman to have oral sex with him, wrapping her legs around him. neck and told him to have more sex.
In other trials, women experience similar experiences in which Watson exposed himself, aggressively guiding them to touch inappropriate areas of his body and, in some cases, to touch them with his genitals. In these trials, Watson faces charges, including civil assault and deliberate provocation of emotional distress.
In several cases, Watson is accused of making threatening remarks to women to prevent them from showing up. A lawyer, Tony Buzbee, represents all 16 women. Buzbee said this weekend that he intends to turn over the evidence to the Houston Police Department and will ask a grand jury to review the charges, according to CBS affiliate KHOU.
When Buzbee announced that he had filed a first lawsuit last week, Watson issued a statement denying that he had ever treated a woman with “anything but the utmost respect.”
“The plaintiff’s lawyer claims that it is not about the money, but before filing the lawsuit he filed a six-digit settlement request, which I quickly rejected,” Watson said. “Unlike him, it’s not about money for me – it’s about deleting my name and I’m looking forward to it.”
In a statement to CBS News on Tuesday, Watson’s lawyer said he was of the opinion that “any claim that Deshaun forced a woman to have sex is completely false.”
The prosecutor also said that he has “strong evidence”, the statement that Watson forced a woman to have oral sex during the December massage is “completely false”. The lawyer provided a statement from Watson’s marketing manager, who claims to have spoken to a person he believes is the applicant in this case in January 2021.
The marketing manager alleged that the applicant admitted to having a consensual meeting with Watson, but asked for $ 30,000 for “indefinite silence” about her meeting. The manager said he did not offer the money.
The NFL is investigating the allegations. The Texans said the team will remain in “close contact” with the league and “will continue to take this and all the issues involving anyone in the Houston Texans seriously.”
