Descendants: The royal wedding will honor the late Cameron Boyce in the story

The Descendants cast will reunite for an animated special that will focus on the weddings of Mal (Dove Cameron) and Prince Ben (Mitchell Hope), who have engaged in Descendents 3 in 2019.

Descendants: The royal wedding, broadcast this summer on Disney, will mark the first installment of the franchise without the late Cameron Boyce.

“For many years our love was tried, but our connection could not be denied,” Cameron said in the teaser. “A million moments led to this, where the bride and groom will share a kiss.”

Disney Channel pays tribute to Boyce, who died at the age of 20, after suffering a crisis in July 2019, continuing to honor his memory.

“The absence of the character Carlos, played by the late Cameron Boyce, will be recognized in the story and Boyce’s memory will be honored in the broadcast,” the network wrote in a statement obtained by TVLine.

Original stars Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart, Sarah Jeffery, China Anne McClain, Jedidiah Goodacre, Anna Cathcart, Dan Payne, Bobby Moynihan and Cheyenne Jackson are all set to appear in the family film.

Speaking about the film, Gary Marsh, president and creative director of Disney Branded Television, noted how the descendants are “the fantastic world of stories and characters rooted in Disney mythology.”

“In the last six years, it has captivated young viewers and become one of the largest Disney Channel entertainment franchises ever,” he continued.

A few days after Boyce’s death, Cameron remembered her late co-star with a memorial video in honor of the actor.

“Cameron has always been good and kind,” said the 25-year-old animator. “He was altruistic and generous, he was magnanimous and, without a doubt, he was a true philanthropist at only 20 years old. Loved by anyone, he was lucky enough to experience his light and indescribable energy. Cameron was the ultimate example of a human being.

Dove posted a series, in which she cried about the actor’s death and admitted that she feels “very strange posting about Cameron on social media”.

“Cameron was one of my favorite people alive in the world, although I know this is not unique to me,” she said. “Cameron was magical – an angel of the earth.”

Hairspray Live alum said that Boyce has always been a loyal and caring friend of his, giving examples of his kind nature: “For the past six years, since he was just 14, Cameron has talked to me from countless angles, subjected me to eating disorders, helped me. to get out of a dark relationship and through endless failures. ‘

Dove opened up about their set interactions, recalling charming details about the professional chemistry they shared.

“He would whisper my dance moves to me on live television when I didn’t know what I was doing or he would hold my hand quietly to communicate without words when we both knew we were thinking the same thing,” she said. “I can’t count on my hands every time I break something because we couldn’t stop making each other laugh.”

She also called Boyce “arguably the most talented person most of us will ever know,” noting that his actions when the cameras were turned off were just as magnanimous.
