Deputy candidate arrested for wrongful death and dangerous driving | News from El Salvador

Karina Jasmín Flores, a candidate for the position of deputy of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), was arrested on Tuesday after causing a traffic accident in an apparent state of intoxication, the National Civil Police reported.

Flores is charged with dangerous driving offenses and murder after causing the death of Saúl Ramos Vásquez, 45, an agent of the Metropolitan Corps of Agents (CAM).

Ramos Vásquez was inspecting a vehicle at kilometer 8 1/2 of Monseñor Romero Boulevard when the detainee hit the rear CAM patrol, seriously injuring the victim who was taken to the hospital where he died.

Authorities pointed out that the 44-year-old candidate, who also works as a singer and broadcaster, was driving in a seemingly drunk state.

“The detainee refused to be subjected to the strongest,” the police source said on Twitter, adding that she would be captured at the disposal of the appropriate authorities so that they could begin the appropriate investigations.
