Denon introduces a new soundbar with Dolby Atmos, AirPlay 2 support and more

Denon today launched the latest home audio offering, Home Sound Bar 550, with an essential feature for Apple users, being AirPlay 2 support for wireless music streaming on the soundbar on devices such as iPhone, iPad and Mac.

In addition to AirPlay 2, users can stream music wirelessly to the Home Sound Bar 550 via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, allowing music to be streamed from services such as Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, TIDAL and more. The soundbar can be connected to a single HDMI TV and “Roku TV Ready” works perfectly with Roku TVs.

With a six-driver array and “expertly tuned” digital signal processing, Denon says the Home Sound Bar 550 is built to deliver “the best audio quality in its class.” The soundbar supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS: X surround sound formats, and a feature known as HEOS allows wireless audio in multiple cameras with other Denon speakers.

Home Sound Bar 550 can be controlled with the included remote control or the most universal remote controls, with the HEOS application for iPhone and iPad or with the built-in illuminated control panel that turns on automatically as an outstretched hand approaches. Denon says users will also have the option to turn on Alexa voice control on the soundbar starting in the spring of 2021, and says the built-in microphones will not be activated without the user’s explicit permission.

Denon says the Home Sound Bar 550 will be available for purchase from authorized retailers starting in February 2021, at a price of $ 599 in the United States.
