Despite the hype, David Lynch did not share any details about future projects, such as a fourth highly sought after season of his beloved cult series “Twin Peaks”.
On Sunday, the surrealist director made an announcement about, well, “an announcement” that will come on Monday, leaving fans to speculate about new projects, including a confirmed Netflix collaboration yet.
Lynch, 75, entered social media on Sunday afternoon with a video update, in which the independent director wore sunglasses inside.
“Good morning,” began airing on YouTube. “It’s January 31st. The last day of January 2021 is Sunday. Here in Los Angeles, partly cloudy, there is a strong breeze, around 46 degrees Fahrenheit, 8 Celsius. ”
Fans have come to expect the daily updates of the weather, often from his home in Los Angeles, with the tireless sun. His other faithful series, “Today’s Number Is,” sees director “Mulholland Drive” shooting a random number from a jar and delivering the number of viewers.
Then the mysterious weather forecast for Sunday continued.
“Not today, but tomorrow, I will have an announcement to make. It should rise to 69 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon, around 21 Celsius, and it looks like we will have clouds all the way. Everyone has a great day. ”
No other distinct suggestions were part of the video, but fans were quick to speculate on what new projects Lynch might have up his sleeve.
“It’s either the fourth season of the year Twin Peaks or befriended a wild cat that lives on his street, I don’t see any way “, joked a fan in an answer on Twitter, appreciated 6,500 times. “I’d be excited anyway, the Twin Peaks S4 speaks for itself, and Lynch would get a lot of miles from the wild cat in his regular LA weather update videos.”
It was also rumored that Lynch might have another series in the works, dubbed “Wisteria,” with Netflix. Preeminent Lynchian fan Welcome to Twin Peaks expects more about this in the January 31 weather report.
On Monday morning, fans were on the sidelines while waiting for the February 1 news.
It seems that his work in cinema had nothing to do with it.
“It is February 1, 2021 and it is Monday. This is a day when I would announce that I will take a break from making the weather report and choosing the number of the day “, he said. “But then I read the comments yesterday – and it struck me once again what a wonderful group you all are, who subscribe to or visit the David Lynch Theater.”
Lynch continued to praise his followers.
“You are so thoughtful and kind, and I am so grateful that there are people like you in this world. So we will continue and I wish, regardless of the weather, we want for you all the blue sky and the golden sun along the way. Everyone, have a great day “, he concluded, greeting his fans.
Devotees of the Oscar-winning winner also rushed to mock their own unannounced enthusiasm. “Too early for the Kermit gif?” asked an anticipated follower on Twitter.
